LIPOSUCTION
We offer a variety of liposuction modalities that can be used on most areas of the body.
Liposuction is a cosmetic surgical procedure that is designed to remove unwanted fat deposits from specific areas of the body, such as the abdomen, hips, thighs, and arms.
WHAT IS LIPOSUCTION AND HOW DOES IT WORK?
While it is no substitute for a healthy diet and lifestyle, liposuction is designed remove stubborn pockets of fat which do not respond to diet or exercise.
Doctors may use general anaesthesia, local anaesthesia or sedation for liposuction. Which method depends on the number of body areas undergoing treatment and the amount of fat necessitating removal.
During the procedure, a slender suction instrument known as a cannula is inserted through the incision(s) to eliminate fat from the specific treatment area.

-
Ultrasound-Assisted Liposuction (VASER)
The name VASER stands for Vibration Amplification of Sound Energy at Resonance. It works by using a small probe or cannula emitting ultrasonic waves targeting fat cells, this breaks down fat cells down while leaving surrounding tissues largely unaffected.
The ultrasound energy Dr Supramaniam uses during his Vaser Liposuction procedures may stimulate collagen production, which causes skin tightening.
-
Tumescent Liposuction
Tumescent liposuction utilises a special solution called the tumescent solution. During the procedure, Dr Supramaniam injects the solution, which typically consists of saline, local anesthetic and epinephrine, into the targeted area. In combination with liposuction, this method works to constrict blood vessels and minimise bleeding and bruising.
-
Radiofrequency Assisted Liposuction (RFAL)
Dr Supramaniam’s Radiofrequency Assisted Liposuction treatments use controlled heating in the underlying tissues, including the subcutaneous fat layer and the dermal layer of the skin to produce body contouring results. This controlled heating is designed to promote collagen contraction and stimulates collagen production, which may lead to skin tightening. The thermal effect on the tissues may also help with coagulation, reducing bleeding and bruising.
-
Liposuction combined with Renuvion
Liposuction combined with Renuvion, formerly known as J-Plasma, is a body contouring procedure that utilises a combination of radiofrequency (RF) energy and helium plasma. This is designed to tighten the skin and promote tissue coagulation. By combining liposuction with Renuvion, Dr Supramaniam may remove excess fat, addressing skin laxity, and promote skin tightening as part of one, effective treatment.
-
Power-Assisted Liposuction
In Power-Assisted Liposuction procedures, Dr Supramaniam uses a specialised liposuction cannula (a thin, hollow tube) connected to a power-assisted device. This device is designed to generate rapid and controlled back-and-forth movements of the cannula, which helps to break up and dislodge fat cells more efficiently than the manual movements used in traditional liposuction.
WHY CHOOSE US FOR YOUR LIPOSUCTION TREATMENT?
Dr Senthil Supramaniam is highly experienced in liposuction and uses the latest techniques to ensure the safest and most effective results.
We offer a variety of liposuction treatments that are combined with energy based devices.
For example, in addition to offering traditional liposuction procedures, Dr Supramaniam offers liposuction which is performed together with energy based devices such as Bodytite, FaceTite, and Renuvion.
These combination treatments use radiofrequency energy (RF) to aid with dermal contraction. This can result in less visible scarring, and a better skin contraction and reduces risk of loose skin post liposuction.
In 2008, Dr Supramaniam completed his Bachelor of Medicine degree and his Bachelor of Surgery degree at the University of New South Wales (UNSW).
He began his medical profession at the prestigious Royal North Shore Hospital and spent several years focusing on accredited training in General Surgery through the Royal Australasian College of Surgeons (RACS).
Dr Supramaniam sought further training from the Australasian College of Cosmetic Surgery & Medicine, where he extensively studied the complexities of aesthetic procedures.

WHAT TO EXPECT ON YOUR LIPOSUCTION JOURNEY
When considering liposuction, it's essential to have realistic expectations. Liposuction is a body contouring procedure, not a weight-loss method.
It targets specific areas of stubborn fat that may be resistant to diet and exercise. The procedure is designed to remove fat from targeted areas such as the abdomen, thighs, hips, and many other areas.
Results can vary based on body type, age, and overall health. Final results take time to become fully apparent, generally around 12 months.
When you begin your journey, communicating openly with Dr Supramaniam about your goals and expectations is essential to understand what is achievable.
HOW TO PREPARE FOR YOUR PROCEDURE
The first crucial step is to schedule a comprehensive consultation with Dr Supramaniam.
During this consultation, you'll discuss your cosmetic goals and medical history, enabling him to assess your suitability for the procedure.
It's important to be clear and open about your expectations and any concerns you may have, so that no matter your goals, he will be able to provide the best treatment options for you.
Before the surgery, you'll undergo a thorough health evaluation to determine your suitability for the procedure.
Depending on your circumstances, this process may include blood tests and a physical examination, you may need to stop taking some supplements, or specific prescriptions, to reduce the risk of bleeding or complications during and after the surgery.
WHAT TO EXPECT ON THE DAY OF SURGERY
On the day of your liposuction surgery, you will check in at Dr Supramaniam’s offices, located within the Sydney Specialist Suites in Norwest Private Hospital to undergo preoperative preparations.
Preparation involves changing into a surgical gown and checking your vital signs.
From there, you will be brought to an accredited operating theatre. Anaesthesia will be administered by a specialist anaesthetist before surgery to ensure your comfort during the surgery.
The type of anaesthesia used will depend on Dr Supramaniam recommendations and the extent of the procedure.
The surgical team operates exclusively in accredited operating theatres and will maintain a sterile environment to reduce the risk of infection and take all necessary safety precautions.
Dr Supramaniam will carefully mark the areas to treat, and you can review and confirm these markings before the surgery starts.
There may be some post-operative pain, bruising, and after effects of anaesthetic.
It is therefore, imperative to arrange for a friend or relative to collect you following surgery. Before leaving the surgical facility, you will receive post-operative care instructions.
POST SURGERY: HOW TO OPTIMISE YOUR RECOVERY
After undergoing liposuction surgery, there are certain pre & post operative instructions you must follow.
Aftercare instructions include wearing compression garments as directed, which will help to reduce swelling and support healing.
In addition, you must stay hydrated, well rested, and avoid strenuous activities, which will give your body the best opportunity to heal.
Maintain a healthy diet, and continue to move, but you must refrain from overexertion, heavy lifting, and vigorous exercise during the initial recovery phase.
For example, taking a short walk may be ok for most people, but going for a run is not advisable.
Take pain medications and antibiotics as prescribed to prevent infections and manage discomfort.
Regarding how long before you can expect to completely return to normal activities including strenuous exercise, each person is different and will be discussed at your review appointments, on average most people can begin exercising by week 6.
Avoid smoking and alcohol and gradually resume light activities as directed by Dr Supramaniam.
Prioritise your well-being throughout the recovery journey, and call the clinic if you have any queries. We offer 24/7 dedicated phone support where you can get advice from a registered doctor or nurse, for your peace of mind.

While liposuction permanently removes fat cells from treated areas, maintaining results requires a healthy lifestyle with regular exercise and balanced nutrition to prevent new fat accumulation.
-
It is a common practice to undergo liposuction in multiple areas simultaneously. The focus should not be on the number of regions but rather on the amount of fat requiring removal and the patient's general health.
-
